Summary
For a moment, Grian questioned if he should try to escape. Maybe they’ve left already, and they already did the rounds to make sure no one was left. Maybe they’ve missed him. Maybe, just maybe, Grian could make it out alive and run the rest of the way home. To his friends, to his family.
Then, the sound of a trapdoor being forced open startled Grian out of his thoughts, and he clamped a hand over his mouth to quiet a startled gasp from escaping his lips. He heard the creaking of the ladder’s rungs, before the thud of footsteps landing against the cobblestone floor.
Grian’s body stiffened as he heard the footsteps trekking through the basement, the heavy clanks of iron boots only worsening his dread. His eyes followed the sounds, squinting as he tried to see who was inside. He was able to see a tall silhouette a few rows away, covered by the chests lining the racks, a faint glow of red in their eyes.
Crap.
// A simple trip to a village against the Yellow border for trade goes horribly wrong. For most, it would be a death sentence, but for Grian, he was given mercy--save for a few scars that most likely would never heal.

In a world where kindness was almost barren, Kayfour knew how lucky they were to be picked up by HBG, to be taken in and accepted as one of their own amidst all of the chaos. But their lifestyle had changed, and the Nature-Born was not one to deny it. And now, they no longer had the time or the luxury to give away the bouquets of flowers that they had the ability to create.
Which is why Kayfour was so surprised to see Pete heading over to them on a particularly busy day in HBG’s premises, a couple of ingots of iron and gold in his grasp.

All he intended to do was just trade with a village that just so happened to be near the border between his territory and Pete’s. And now, he was paying the price for it.

"Forget it," Fruit waved it off, crossing his arms. He gestured over to the avian-hybrid, "Talk. Before I tell Geo you've been keeping a Yellow here for-...I don't know if I want to know for how long."
"A week and a half, I think?" Pete finished for him, Fruit covering his face in his hands.
"Oh my Void..." he groaned, voice muffled.
"Maybe a little longer?"
"Pete, he's been here since the fucking raid we pulled off?" He said incredulously, head snapping up in disbelief. Grian's wings unconsciously wrapped around him, as he turned his gaze away, a bit of guilt in his expression.
"It's, uh- kind of a long story?"
:: Fruit is unhappy. Pete tries to de-escalate the situation. Grian tries to not be worth any more trouble. Unfortunately, something else pops up that throws a wrench into their plans. ::
