He drops his head and squeezes his temples between his knees and Pete can’t see his chest where it’s pressed flush against his thighs but the shaking of his shoulders tells him everything he needs to know. God, his throat must be torn to shreds, but he just keeps crying and crying, pounding his fist against the back of his head as he yells incomprehensibly at the floor. The only word that Pete can pick out is “monster”, over and over like a fucked up mantra.
