Joe does the only thing he can think of and extends his arms. He just wants to hold Andy, wants to feel that he is real and present, wants the warmth of that confirmation. He wants Andy to know that though Joe’s words are failing him, he is so, so very loved.
Andy comes to him easily, always has. He hesitates, not wanting to hurt him by holding on too tight. There’s a metaphor there, he’s certain. But he can’t be bothered to give a shit about any of it. He pulls Andy close, and can feel more than hear the terribly shaky breath Andy takes as his facade begins to crumble. Andy shakes in his arms, his face as turned into Joe’s chest as it can be without causing any pain. Andy is always thinking about anyone but himself. Fucking asshole.

It kind of feels like the end of the world.
He’s faced the end of the world before. He’s stared a crow-beaked ender of days in its black hole eyes and stepped confidently towards its hulking frame, fully confident in their ability to put it in its place. This piece of plastic is nothing compared to that and yet it is so, so much more.
The main difference between the two, at least in his opinion, is that when he faced the demon he didn’t do it by himself. Right now he’s by himself in a hotel bathroom, shaking so badly that in the next moment the test slips from his fingers and clatters to the tiled floor.
It’s the middle of the tour and the guys know he hasn’t been feeling great. He had thought it was a cold. Why couldn’t it have just been a cold?
Or, I try to write mpreg with the sole goal of giving the fobcule a baby! Because that's adorable. AND it takes place in a post ybc world. For extra angst.

"Something's wrong." Joe says, arms crossed and brow furrowed as he watches Andy. There’s something uniquely off about the way that he functions. He’d become far more purposeful in every movement he made as of late, Joe knows this, but the way he moves now is.. off. Even more than his recent change in behavior. The way he sits and grabs the headphones.. It’s weird.
It was headphones that they landed on. Those big industrial ones you use when you’re really trying to avoid hearing damage which is unfortunately ironic in this instance. They’re black and bulky but promising in concept. Andy’s hearing isn’t all the way gone so the background noise fucks with him when he actually picks up on it and the crash of the drums are slightly too loud to not hurt. Well, Andy had said it didn’t hurt but Joe was willing to bet that it did. At the very least it was a distraction. Ideally, the headphones will help him.. Well. Feel the fucking music better, he guesses.
Or, A continuation of a scene mentioned off handedly in the original fic of this series surrounding Andy being deaf.
