aliens invade earth and abduct a whopping fifty million of them thinking that they're saving a cute unintelligent species. they think: why not have these guys as pets? surely this can't go wrong!
saoirse, a sixteen year old, finds themself on a spaceship heading to a planet lightyears away alongside their best friend. how will they manage themself on an alien planet, where they don't know the language and are presumed to be a non-sentient species? once saoirse gets adopted by a pair of aliens, that's exactly what they have to figure out.
