Theoretically, Dan Heng knows the average adult has five liters of blood. What the data entries don’t say is what one liter of blood looks like and how horrifying it is to have that warm, red liquid seep into your clothes when it’s not your own. “Your hair reeks,” Ren says. He sniffs again, just to make sure.
Dan Heng glares at him, now awoken. He makes a small noise of protest as Ren pushes him away and tries to lean back in to rest against Ren’s chest.
“You weren’t complaining thirty minutes ago,” Dan Heng points out. His eyes shine a cold emerald as he stares at Ren with his arms crossed over his chest.

Jing Yuan seems undeterred, if the smile on his face is anything to go by.
“No matter. What’s the nearest and least inauspicious date?” Jing Yuan asks.
“Next Wednesday,” Fu Xuan responds.
Jing Yuan claps one hand on Dan Heng’s shoulder and the other on Ren’s, pulling them in. “Perfect! We’ll hold your wedding then.”
