Summary
She wore a thin sapphire-blue cloak wrapped over her petite frame and clutched a lantern, which she raised higher as she peered at him and asked in a soft, nervous tone, “…M-May I help you, sir?”
She didn’t recognise him.
No — no, of course she wouldn’t, he looked completely different to the day he’d departed. So did she, but while she’d grown into this vision, he’d grown into… well, a dark stranger with a soldier’s greatcoat and a beard that added about 15 years onto him.

After seven years at war, Kier returns home a changed man, in more ways than one. When his now not-so-little sister opens the door, everything changes yet again.
Lainie’s never been happier to see Kier. Even if he’s strangely pale, shies from the sun, and sometimes stares at her neck.Series

Summary
He'd no sooner said it when he knew that something had happened. The air between them seemed to thicken, a palpable energy and attraction that the uninitiated might not recognise as weird, but Kier definitely did. His blood, that same vile pigsblood he'd consumed earlier, suddenly ran hot in his veins, causing his fingers and toes to tingle, his teeth to itch in his mouth. Perhaps there was even a flash of something in his eyes, like a lightning bolt across a cloudy sky, a glint of metal – or light reflected in the eyes of a predator.
-
Lainie’s older brother moves slowly in the daytime. That’s why she needs to help him dress. As for everything else… well, that’s what any good sister would do.
Kier doesn’t know what he is, but he knows it’s not human. Nocturnal schedule? Check. Hunger for blood? Check. Inadvertently enthralling his sibling? Check.Series

Summary
He was already closer to her than any man ought to be, seeking her out, gazing overlong. He could get away with it because it was known that they were siblings, and he could play the overprotective big brother card, but he had to take care not to be overtly romantic. No matter how much he desired otherwise.
“You’re very quiet,” Lainie commented from next to him, as they walked unhurriedly through a shady garden, “what are you thinking about?”
He looked over, and answered honestly, “You.”
-
The scent of Lainie’s blood drives Kier crazy. So does the thought of anyone else courting her. So when it’s time for the Spring Dance, prime matchmaking event of the season and his sister’s debut, there’s only one thing on his mind: sabotage.

Summary
The words filled him with such wonder, and yet he couldn’t help but dwell upon a passing comment someone had made during his unexpected breakdown: I heard quite a lot of soldiers came back not quite right.
Mental wounds aside, he didn’t come back right, did he? His physical condition, both its accursed drawbacks and sinister boons. The vast distance he began to feel from other people. Then the one glaring exception to that, when Lainie had first opened the door to him, and he had both instantly recognised her and had his perception of her forever shifted… objectively for the worse. He wasn’t wilfully ignorant, he knew he wasn’t supposed to covet his own sister, and that to act upon that desire was reprehensible. It wasn’t just that he came back not quite right, he came back wrong, and wicked, and sinful. And he knew that.
-
Brothers and sisters could play at marriage, Kier had told Lainie. But not what happened when playtime was over.
