Summary
“So you wake up, I’m pressing it in… you look at me, I say—” he clears his throat a little, leans back over Gale—“It’s time.”
“I’ll haunt you, boy,” Gale grits in return, looking at John unblinking and holding his jaw tense. “I ain’t leavin’ you in peace.”
“I know,” John bites, and drives in the knife. Gale gasps and chokes, shudders like they rehearsed.
“Come on, boy.” Gale’s only reacting now, bracing and writhing as John pulls back the knife—that’ll be when the SFX guy starts pumping the blood. He glides light, trembling fingers over a spot under Gale’s ribs, before rubbing a bit harder, and then—
“What kind of foley you reckon they’ll put on this?” John muses, tapping his finger once against Gale’s skin. He sits up, and holds his other hand in a loose o, working the same finger in and out of the makeshift hole with a raised eyebrow. “Mac and cheese?”

Gale Cleven lands his first major credit, playing across big name John Egan—and despite what Gale told himself before shooting started, everyone knows that on-set flings happen. It's fine if it doesn't mean anything. Right?Series

Summary
Quite a good little actor. Something Gale’s heard Cathy say before, something which sticks in the meat of his brain and puts a bit of warmth in his chest whenever she does, because he knows it’s maybe her highest compliment. The first time he heard it stitched fast and fierce into his memories: he’d been twelve, and she’d come back to town for his school play while his dad said he couldn’t make it that night (Gale had biked his way to campus, knowing his dad had driven to the track), and she’d found him backstage and cupped his round-cheeked face between both her palms and left a ruby-red lipstick kiss on his forehead.
“You’re quite a good little actor, aren’t you?” she’d cooed, and when Gale’s teacher had come up to them and asked, “Gale, who’s this come to see you?” he had promptly and proudly said, “This is Cathy.”
Cathy, in an equally rare effusion, had shaken his teacher’s hand and added, “I’m Gale’s mom.”

Summary
“So,” John announces, and it hangs between them long enough for Gale to swallow. “Your mom’s hot.” The laugh that cracks from Gale’s throat is almost a bark.
“Shut up.”
“The rest of what I was thinkin’ seems a little inappropriate, now.”
“There’s something wrong with you,” Gale gripes, elbowing him none too gently, but he can’t smooth out the curl at his mouth and it’s eking into his voice, too. “C’mon, we’re goin’ for supper.”

Summary
“We used to be young. Fuckin’ artists. We used to shoot all day and still have a good time. I think I’m losing my hair. Turned into this guy who makes a sport out of bending over for execs and gets an upset tummy when I eat the wrong thing. I read an article about Whole30 the other day. I know what fuckin’ Whole30 is.” He’s still smiling as he says it all, drawled and Kahlua-slurred and sardonic, and Dougie is smiling back.
“Hey, you haven’t changed that much,” he says, laying a hand on Everett’s shoulder. “You’ve always made a sport out of bending over.”
“You’re a piece of shit,” Everett laughs, feeling himself slump. They’re huddled in together enough that it’s muffling out the other noises in the bar. It’s muffling out a lot of things.

Summary
The door snaps against its chain, wedge of light from inside showing very little except for John’s hand braced against the frame, and a fragment of his face.
“Yeah?” he asks, rough and tired. Gale swallows.
“What, not even a ‘hi’?” He tries to drawl it out, but his heart is punching all nervy through his core, and it’s making his words wobble. The door slams shut.
There’s scrabbling, metal on metal on wood and frantic hands, and then the door is all but gone, thrown wide to let all the light out and frame John, standing there in sharp relief.
“Hi,” he says, and his face splits wide. “Hi,” he repeats, and he’s reaching for Gale. “Hi,” he breathes, and it’s into Gale’s neck. Gale wraps his arms around John’s back, tucking a kiss behind his ear. “How are ya? How was your flight?”
“Are you surprised?”
“I’m dreaming. Hi, baby.”
