Like he’s taunting Tim with it, Boyd’s tongue darts out, licking over his bottom lip. “Oh, marshal, we both know that’s not the violent fantasy you’re entertaining right now.” He leans forward as far as the handcuffs will allow, black eyes glittering in the low light. “But if you wanna fuck this hole in my thigh, you’ll have to ask real nicely.”

Raylan opens his mouth, but when he tries to speak, nothing comes out. He doesn’t know what to say. He doesn’t know how to explain. He’s been so focused on keeping it a secret, on not saying anything about it that now, when faced with having to talk about it, he doesn’t know what to do.
“My dick’s gone,” he blurts after a moment, and then immediately feels heat rise to his cheeks as Boyd continues to just stare at him in – albeit patient – confusion.

And Boyd might have been inclined to thank Dickie for wrapping Raylan up so nice and tidy for him, had Dickie had the presence of mind to keep his hands off Raylan’s person, but all Boyd can think about is the thud of the bat hitting Raylan's body. It sits badly with him, the idea that Dickie's standing there, thinking he’s got the right to go putting marks on a man he's got no business touching.

Raylan’s fingers gently curl around his own, and the soft touch is enough to jolt him back into himself. He watches as, one by one, Raylan carefully tests his fingers, making sure they bend, making sure none of them are broken. It makes something tight in Tim’s chest loosen a little, and when Raylan smooths his thumb over Tim’s knuckles, it’s enough to make him shiver.
“You with us, sweetheart?”
Tim has a nightmare. Boyd makes a mistake. Raylan, somehow, is the one who makes it all better.

Tim kept his apartment, even after they all moved into Raylan’s old family house. It’s not a secret, though Raylan and Jimmy avoid talking about it like it is one. More often than not, Boyd thinks he’s the only one who understands that Tim’s in the process of domesticating himself; sometimes, the boy just has to retreat back into the wild for a bit to lick his wounds, to spend some time alone, before he can allow himself to acknowledge that he really does prefer human company to his own.
