"Wha' about you?"
"I'll make myself a cup of tea too. And I might steal one or two of these crackers." Nick replied, plucking an animal cracker off of the children's plate instead of grabbing one from the readily available bag. Charlie gave an offended gasp this time.
"Those are mine, though." he pouted, watching Nick cross the room again to put the animal crackers away.
"It's the caregiver tax." Nick said very seriously as if that was a real, well-known thing as he came back over. "I put your snack together and then I get to steal some. It's very legal and official."
Charlie tilted his head, "That's not real."
"Oh, it isn't? How do you know that?"

During a homework session at Nick's house, a slightly bored Charlie regresses for fun. Nick isn't exactly an expert caregiver yet, but he does try his best.

“Let’s get you something to chew on, honey. Then we can go back to making pancakes.” Nick offered, coming to his feet. He kept his hand intertwined with Charlie’s, spinning him around as he stood up. The boy giggled, stumbling slightly in his motions and hugging Nick when he caught him before he fell to the ground, “Oh, you’re clumsier. Issac told me about that. Sorry, darling.”
“No s-word.” Charlie told him very seriously as he pulled back from the brief embrace, but it was hard to take him as such when he was still smiling brightly and he was speaking in that specific babyish voice.
“Oh, yes, silly me.” Nick smiled down at him again, and then he’s leading him up, up, up the stairs towards his bedroom and guiding him carefully up the steps.

“Oh!” Nick’s eyes widened slightly, and he giggled, “The park’s right there, though!”
And his voice is fading into something more childish, the focus he had been forcing into forming his words slipping away. He let excitement take over his demeanor, and he bounced on his feet a bit.
Charlie laughed, “I know. We still have to be safe, though!”
The moment he determined that there were no cars coming, the blonde breaks out in a run across the street, tugging the other boy along like it was nothing at all.
Or,
Nick's process of realizing that he's an age regressor and exploring the coping skill with the help of his boyfriend, Charlie. And also, there's a lifetime of masking and a childhood being told he was "too much" to work through.
