He tells himself that lie, but he can't truly believe it — because deep down, he knows exactly why their relationship endures and why he continues to let it flourish. He's grown attached to the feeling of security and stability that their encounters provide, but mostly, he can't let Gaara go — not while the man still wants him in any way.
