Summary
King Olezka of Tharafell was hunting demigods, on some crazed goal to achieve divinity and godhood. Luckily, Elva wasn't a demigod by any means, so none of that concerned her.
“Didn’t you used to know a demigod a few years back?” a drinking friend of hers asked. Elva just nodded and grabbed another one from a passing barkeep’s tray.
Her friend asked if she was worried about them; the demigod she used to know.
“Why would I be?” she returned the question.
And then her response was challenged hours later when the topic of their conversation appeared on her doorstep, bloodied and still somehow smiling.
Elva wished she had forgotten that dumb, beautiful face that made her heart skip beats before it left her five years ago.

Their divinity was a secret, one they intended to take to the grave.
Mother died with their secret known to the damn Frost King of Tharafell.
“I’m going to kill him,” the demigod declared through tears.
“His hunters will be after you,” the blacksmith reminded.
“I’ll run from his hunters. I’ll run and I’ll hide and when Aurvanda’s stars align, I’ll march up to his throne of ice and bone and he will breathe his final breath with my blade in his heart.”
She expected Elva to make a retort, but it never came. Instead, a sigh left her lips. All that was on her face was pity.

Summary
Every few years, settlements living near volcanoes would receive a warning in the form of a minor quake: throw a sacrifice down the crater or try your best to survive an eruption or a full earthquake. Animal sacrifices were the usual.
But human sacrifices were much more preferred.

Summary
“You’re leaving,” Senja said absently before Elva could say just that. Elva watched as the human swirled her ale languidly, staring at the liquid with drowsy indigo eyes.
Senja reiterated, “You’re leaving for her.”
Elva rested her head in a glowing hand, glancing at the nearest wall torch. “I’m leaving with her,” she softly corrected. The conversation felt vaguely familiar.

Turns out Senja is the drinking friend from the very first work in this series. Huh.
