Summary
Without warning, he pulled Mark close, his arms locking around Mark’s waist. The suddenness of it sent a cold spike of alarm through Mark. He tensed, breath hitching.
They had never touched like this in public. Not like this. Cesar froze when Mark stepped back, his hands lingering mid-air. “I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said, his voice low and slow. “You know I’d never hurt you.” Mark nodded, heart pounding. “I know. I just—” The words caught in his throat. He couldn’t explain it. Couldn’t explain the cold, crawling discomfort under his skin.
“We’re in public,” he added softly.
“Let them watch,” Cesar said, tilting his head. “Why should it matter?” The café suddenly felt too warm, too crowded. Mark glanced around. No one was watching them, but still, he felt exposed. Cesar’s smile returned, softer this time. “Sorry. I got carried away.”
