Summary
Kenma and Tora join the volleyball club and meet their soulmates. Nothing about this will shake out to be a meet-cute. Neither of them are surprised that it's not a meet-cute considering their words, but neither is quite ready for this either.
"Yer pretty gutless, ain't ya?"
"Well, we can't all be meatheads, you know."
Soulmate identifying marks, where a person is born with the first words their soulmate says to them on their skin. These words are written in the soulmates handwriting. The marks are black until they're spoken by the soulmate, and then they turn vibrant colours. The colours are believed to be the colours of the two souls combined.

Summary
Everyone wishes that their soulmarks were unique, or romantic. Not a lot of people get those things. Akaashi has soulmarks that are romantic as hell. But they're also not something someone would normally say to someone they've just met. Which means that Akaashi doesn't really believe them for a second.
Bokuto's words are decidedly not romantic. They are however, a little concerning. Bokuto grows up worried about his soulmate, he wonders what has happened to make it so that his soulmate thinks so little of himself. The older he gets, the more true that is.

Summary
Tsukishima Kei does not have time for soulmate nonsense. His third semester at college is officially kicking his ass, and he's running out of time to find the reference book he needs for class. He's not expecting this ratty library to have what he needs at all, much less for today to be the day his soulmate literally trips over him.
Kuroo Tetsurou is fully expecting his soulmate to be a foul mouthed asshole, as evidenced by the words blazoned across Kuroo's chest. He's not actively looking for his soulmate, but he is looking forward to one day meeting them.

Kuroo and Kenma know each other inside and out. Sometimes it's creepy how well they know each other, it's like they can read each other's minds without ever speaking. In a moment of uncharacteristic seriousness with the team they have one of those moments, a flash of perfect understanding between the two of them.
It's just unfortunate that what they both think they understood about each other in that moment is totally wrong. It leads them confidently into the biggest misunderstanding of either of their lives.
These boys learn the long way around that having a special bond does not, in any way, replace the need for actual communication about the big issues in life.

Summary
Soulmarks. Unique symbols that appear somewhere on your body that will be a perfect match to the one that appears on your soulmate. Most people parade their marks around, going so far as to specially tailor their clothes to reveal their marks, going about their lives looking for someone who matches them.
Kuroo gets his mark on his 16th birthday exactly. As the years pass and Kenma's mark fails to show up, they both silently give up on the idea that they might be soulmates. Kenma secretly hopes that he'll never get a mark at all- after all, if Kuroo isn't his soulmate, who else could it possibly be?
He's locked away that part of himself, the hopes and frustrations of his soulmarks failure to show up when it should have. He wouldn't be thinking about it all, except that the chat during his livestream is suddenly going crazy. How is he meant to handle all of this?

Summary
Oikawa comes out of his career as a volleyball player in Argentina with a knee injury that he'll never recover from, physically, or emotionally. He feels wrecked, utterly destroyed and lost in the world. He returns to Japan in defeat.
Iwaizumi owns a run of the mill bar on a backstreet in Tokyo. He smokes too much, and talks too little, and generally scares the shit out of people who look his way too long.
Neither of them think that this will be the year, the night, that they'll hear those words, and meet their soulmate. What do you do when the universe decides for you that now is the right time to find your other half?
