Summary
Aki and Himeno drink together, like normal, but Aki’s roommates (AKA children, if you ask Himeno) add some unprecedented teasing to the mix.
‘“One more, Hime. Don’t argue, you’ve had one too many already.”
He was about to continue his warnings, when unfortunately for Aki, Denji turned his head to look at the pair on the couch, an expression of teasing and maybe mild annoyance (which, in and of itself, was annoying) painted on his boyish features.
“You’re such a buzzkill, man! What, d’you have some kinda control kink? You’re always trying to control everything!”“And who the fuck is Hime!?” Power asked (yelled?). Ugh.
He took a sip of his own drink, sighing exasperatedly at the two.
“It’s just a nickname, Power. You know, I just call her that sometimes.”“Riiiiiiighhht. I think you’re just calling her your princess.” Denji drawled out skeptically.
“Ooh, I like that idea~ am I your princess, Akiii~?”
He blushed, despite himself, at the idea of Himeno being his “princess”. Damn this woman. Damn the little goblins sitting at their feet.

Himeno gets her period, so it’s up to Aki to deal with her.
Needless to say, Aki wasn’t good at girl stuff.
So when he found Himeno curled up in his pillows, wallowing in the late afternoon around sunset; yeah, he didn’t quite know what to do.Sometimes she did this. Moments of sadness, at random times; when she got drunk, when she was hormonal.
Moments of vulnerability. Moments where Aki learned things she never would’ve told anyone.
But dark chocolate and cigarettes weren’t real comfort.

The creature was now on the floor, torn with blood. Aki was searching it, but it had no gun chunks. (He kind of didn’t even want to touch it)
Still, it had actually ended up being a pretty hard fight, and it showed on the two coworkers, Himeno’s shirt bloody and torn lightly in places and pants scuffed and lightly ripped around the thighs, and Aki’s clothing showing the same effect.
“We should go, right? Gotta get back to HQ.”
Aki wanted to shower. That thing was so… eugh.

Summary
Aki and Himeno go on a date <3.
Two glasses of water seemed to just manifest near them, before the blue-eyed man looked up, seeing a waiter carrying a small notepad hovering over the two.
“And would you two like anything else to drink?”, was asked.
Aki looked up at the man, looking him straight in the eyes the way he did everyone.
He thought for a minute before requesting. “Uhmm… yes, two yebisus, please” , to which the waiter nodded and scribbled something down. Himeno had a shine in her eye when she looked at him. She’d had this… shocked-looking face half the time they’d been at the restaurant.
He was splurging. Himeno had rarely seen him splurge on things.
Still, the woman smiled, composing herself.
The waiter rolled his eyes at her overly bright demeanor before walking away.
“Damn, Aki, you’re really going all out, huh?”

A cold New Year’s night, a pair of Devil Hunters sit on a balcony under moonlight and fireworks. From that night stems a new part of their relationship, one never quite decided but uniquely theirs.
“Hey, Aki? You wanna celebrate New Year’s with me? It’d be boring to do it alone, y’know.”
Himeno looked him straight in the eyes, it was something she always did when she spoke to him. Neon lights were shining above the pair as they stood in the chilled street, unnatural fluorescent colors in the starless skies of Tokyo. There were countdowns on buildings and more people in the city than even the usual busy days, couples and groups of people laughing like chipper birds bustling around.
Himeno had probably looked like one of them, once, running around with friends or maybe even a boyfriend, she thought.
For now, though, she had Aki. Her Aki, now.
It’d been a little over… a year and a half? Maybe just a year? Well, something like that since they met. Enough to get aloof, stone-cold Aki to open up a little.

Aki immediately noticed two things through his mild hangover as he awoke. One, Himeno’s bare body cuddled up against him, her arms and legs sprawled out on him as she pulled herself closer, like some kind of limpet trying to siphon off his body heat. Her mouth was open just a little bit, as always. Two was Meowy, who was making biscuits on his stomach. God, he had to get Power to train that cat better. He let Meowy stay, though. Himeno would probably be happy, she thought the feline was adorable. Aki liked it, too, if he was being honest. It was maybe the sanest thing in the house.

Still, things could stay the same at work. Himeno was just flirty, just outgoing, just being Himeno. It sparked rumors, but it was her. That’s what it was at work.
Which made Aki wonder why everything felt just a little bit different now. Same shared office, same jobs. Maybe it was living together, or the occasional dates or maybe it was the increase in their… well, “shared touch”. He was pretty sure that he still had fading scratch marks littered across the skin of his back.
The man contemplated this as they smoked in an alleyway on their break from patrol.
