Marcus lets out an honest-to-God laugh. She’s just—wow. ‘Yeah, that, whatever.’ She laughs, too. It’s melodic, a perfect tune he wants to bottle up and keep forever. ‘It just feels like we have this thing going, you know? I climb through your window, you’re mad, then we hug and like, almost kiss, and then I leave again. And it’s our thing. But if it makes you uncomfortable, I promise I’ll stop.’
There’s a beat of silence. And then—
‘Our thing,’ she says. She says it in this delicate tone, like she’s tasting it, savouring it on her tongue.
Or: The one where Marcus comforts Ginny after the chaos in her life reaches a heartbreaking peak. And maybe they find their own little piece of paradise.

He wipes the tears streaming down her face with his thumbs. It kind of calms her down. He’s so gentle. She wishes he were like this with himself.
Cracking a grin, he clears his throat. Another Marcus Baker joke, probably. They’re so stupid, but she loves them. Loves him. ‘You wish the baby you’re aborting—aborted, actually—was mine?’
‘You know what I mean,’ she sniffles, playfully hitting his arm.
‘I think I’d like you to explain to me what you mean, Virginia,’ Marcus grins.
Or: The one where Marcus comforts Ginny after her abortion, and they talk about the future they so desperately want with each other.
