The fact that he was still considered a friend to them should’ve eased any doubt in his mind, but a selfish part of him longed for something more. Goro squeezed his eyes shut, bracing himself, and Ryuji laughed again. He probably looked no different from a grade-schooler having their first kiss on the playground.
And though it embarrassed him a bit to admit, they really were his first. It was one of the few things he didn’t have to lie about.
