Billie's heart began beating so fast she was scared it might burst through her chest entirely. "Do I?"
"Don't play dumb. It doesn't suit you."

"Yes you are." Collie leaned forward, elbows on the table. "You've been playing all night. With that guy. With me."
"I don't know what you mean."
"Billie." The way Collie said her name made her stomach flip. "Why did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"You know what."
Billie looked away, at her hands, at the table, at anything that wasn't Collie's face. "He seemed nice."

Collie looked up at her. The last of the sunset caught in Billie's hair, turning it gold at the edges. The 'C' pendant rested in the hollow of her throat. She'd never looked more beautiful, which was saying something considering Collie had spent the past week memorizing every inch of her.
"You're impossible," Parker said.
"You love it."
"I do. That's the problem."
Billie kissed her again and Collie gave up on any hope she had of watching the movie. Her hands slid up Billie's thighs, bunching the fabric of her dress. Billie made a soft sound against her mouth and Collie remembered, suddenly and vividly, why she'd asked Billie not to wear this particular outfit.
