Grian finally looked up from the hand as he collected his thoughts. “Let me see if I understand. I either have to go to detention for a month, risking my future because it will go on my records, or work with Scar for three weeks?” Hick nodded, just as Scar’s shoulders tightened. “This is blackmail.”
“Extortion.” Scar whispered, earning him an elbow to the rib.
Mr. Hick just shrugged as he returned to his papers. “Never claimed to be fair. So, what will it be, Grian?”
Or, forced to work with Scar for a month, Grian quickly realizes there is much more going on behind his group of shallow friends, and has to decide where in the hierarchy he wants to land once he uncovers the full truth.

“I have no clue what you’re talking about.” Joel interrupted. The less he knew about the actual friend group, the better, in his opinion. “I just pulled you out to ask about Etho. He’s not really someone who seems like a good fit for our group.”
Grian froze for a second, seeming to go over the new information at lightning speed before a tight smile formed. “Maybe not the group now, but he fits perfectly with the group I have planned.” Joel felt the air chill as his phone buzzed. “I’m just deciding whether or not you fit in it.”
Joel tries to find his footing within the populars, all while balancing Grian's demands and the constant stress about living a lie.
Etho is just here to make Joel's life that much harder.

Lizzie was still getting used to not being popular.
“What the fuck was this one about Lizzie?” Martyn hissed out after pulling her out of yet another fight. “Someone insult your hair this time? Seriously, dude, get a grip.” Martyn let go of her shirt, which was a good thing since the collar was starting to cut Lizzie’s air way off way faster then she was ready for. She could appreciate some choking, but not like that. “I swear to God, Lizzie, if it wasn’t for Cleo I would’ve-”
“Left me for dead on the doorsteps of the school, I know.” Lizzie cut him off with a wave, choosing to pinch her nose closed in hopes to stop the bleeding.
Lizzie just wants to feel something again, Cleo just wants Lizzie to stop spiraling.
