Ilya continued to kiss down Shane's neck and then his chest expecting Shane to lean into his touch yet he stayed stone cold lying flat against the bed. Ilya pulled back slightly looking at Shane who was staring off, straight up at the roof.
"Shane." Ilya called leaning up on his hands and knees over Shane obstructing Shane's view while leaving a slight space between them. Shane flinched slightly as their eyes met before turning his head to the side tears pooling in his eyes.Or Ilya accidentally called shane 'good girl' during sex and it opens the opportunity for Shane to finally tell Ilya about him being non binary.

Summary
Shane first brought up growing out their hair two weeks after he came out, when they were relaxing on the sofa. Ilya was watching the game playing on the TV internally mocking Chicago's extremely sloppy playing, they could barely keep the stick in their hands let alone the puck. He could feel Shane tense slightly, as there was a particularly hard check, against him grimacing slightly before sighing.
"I was thinking-" Shane began.
"-Careful Hollander." Ilya interrupted almost absent-mindedly. Shane hit him lightly causing Ilya to laugh still looking at the TV.
"I was thinking...I might start growing my hair out."5 times Shane made a change to feel more comfortable in his gender just for Ilya to see +1 time he let everyone see

"I was thinking..." Shane began causing Ilya to look up from his phone at him. "I might talk to Rus about being non binary."
"You want to?" Ilya asked, Shane had relaxed slightly now Russo was on the team, going back to how he was before. Harris and the media team had been doing well at addressing the negative comments about Russo without it taking over all the publicity about them, sandwiching statements between clips of the team at practice especially ones where Russo made good plays."I just thought it might be nice, for both of us. They'll know their not alone on the team and - and I can have someone to talk about it with, someone who understands it." Shane mumbled, looking down until he felt Ilya's arms wrap around him pulling him to a hug.
" I think it is a good idea, for both of you."Or the centaurs gain an openly non binary rookie and Shane decides to tell them he is also non binary
