Summary
Thomas nodded. “That's right Bruce, but to Mother Gotham, bats, as well as birds, are her protectors. Many believe that when Mother Gotham is in danger, she will call upon her protectors to restore balance.”
Bruce squeezed his blanket, leaning into his mother. “Are they nice?” Thomas smiled a soft smile, leaning forward and placing a kiss on Bruce's head. “Of course they are, they're protectors after all.”
Bruce had forgotten that story, what five year old would? He had forgotten it for three years, blissfully living his life.
Until he was on the other end of that gun, and it fired, right through his heart.
His life was never the same after that.

Summary
"Oliver remembered the first time he met Bruce. It was during a charity gala his mother and father had practically dragged him to. The young boy, only 4 years old, would rather be anywhere else. Yet, as the heir to Queen Industries, his father believed that Oliver should get used to these kinds of events early on."
Oliver and Bruce have been friends since they were kids, but their friendship was always more. Many thought that they would grow out of it, especially when Bruce shut him out after his parents' deaths, but it stayed strong. It was more than a friendship, but it wasn't a romance, it was simply... them.
