Summary
There was no good word for what Istvan was to Erik. He'd been the end of one life and the start of another. He'd provided for him, taught him, molded him. They were alike, but not the same.
He might have remained caught, unsure if he wanted to be Istvan or be with Istvan, had Istvan not left him behind to go on crusade and in his absence, left Erik's feelings to grow into something uncontrollable.
A collection of scenes from 1391-1399.

Pious had thought Krucemburk was far enough to run, had thought enough time had passed to finally stop fearing he'd find a knife at his throat in the night. He'd started again, an apothecary this time, and had begun to believe this might be that role that stuck.
Until one day, Erik stumbled into town, no sooner collapsed, and became his problem.
