Summary
In one universe, when Harry is being strangled by Vernon his accidental magic gives Vernon an electric shock, scaring him into letting go. Harry's abuse at the hands of his relatives continues unchecked and unremarked upon, and Dumbledore remains distant and unhelpful.
In a different universe, Harry's accidental magic reacts a little more.
When there's a near manslaughter on the Boy-Who-Lived's hands, it is harder to overlook the underlying issues.

“Where did we go so wrong, Minerva?”“Everywhere, Albus,” Minerva replied in a whisper. She well remembered looking at the little boy who said the Philosopher’s stone was going to be stolen, imploring her with his wide, sincere eyes, the eyes of a bright, dead student in the face of another bright, dead student. She well remembered turning away.

Summary
Tom has been preparing for the Sorting since the reminder that he was supposedly the Boy-Who-Lived in Diagon Alley, and knew that all eyes would be on him. And he had a plan to shock them all, and to start building his influence and power as soon as possible. He had someone to protect now, and to would do it to the best of his ability, and which house would be more natural to do that from than Slytherin?
It was a pity, then, that his brother/adopted son/protégé/friend Harry didn't get the memo.

Summary
Ginny has too many wrackspurts, and there is a Thing visiting Hogwarts. Luna is going to find out what, exactly, the Thing is, and why it's pretending to be human. And while she's at it, it wouldn't hurt to get more content for the Quibbler.
Professor Mcgonagall had once told her after a particularly eventful transfiguration lesson, “Miss Lovegood, you must understand that there are things that are real, and there are things that are not.”
“Respectfully,” Luna had answered with her most diplomatic smile, “I don’t care to see the difference.”Series
