Summary
A broken laugh. This feels like what Welt remembers.
He can faintly hear March’s triumphant shout of “We did it!” as she celebrates their victory with the rest of the crew. They deserve this success. He’s proud of them, as always. And with any luck, they’ll find him before it’s too late. But even if they don’t, Welt has no regrets. The people he loves are safe to continue their journey another day, another planet will be able to resume its normal existence, and he got to have one last adventure that made him feel alive.
Welt smiles faintly, holding on to the last fading tendrils of consciousness.
