From the moment Emma wakes up she knows something is wrong.
Well, in reality, everything is probably fine. However, she can tell immediately that her brain is not on the same page.
She wakes to that familiar tightness in her chest, the telltale sign that she's on the verge of a panic attack. This doesn't happen to her often, or at least not that often. She doesn't know what causes it. She's fine when she goes to sleep. She has no memory of any bad dreams or triggers. Then she wakes up like this.
Which is just fucking great.
