One day you were experimenting with making life-sized dolls that could move, think, and attack on their own accord, and the people of your village feared the very idea.
Or:
Reader was forced to be feminine from a young age, and was fine with dolls and dresses, but not etiquette and pink or blue. She started making dolls that were alive, and people hated that and tried to kill her, but the dolls saved her.
