Summary
It was rare for Shane to lose an argument. Sometimes he would explain his logic and Ilya would end up agreeing with him, and other times Ilya had agreed with him all along and just enjoyed getting him worked up. Most of the time Ilya never actually had intention of telling him “no”. How could he when Shane looked at him with those big pleading brown eyes and that beautiful smattering of freckles? He was, as the younger generation would say, whipped.
What could he say, really? He didn't care about a lot of things the way Shane did, and in the grand scheme of things nothing really mattered to him more than Shane’s comfort and happiness. He never even saw the little losses as sacrifices anyway. He was indifferent about a lot of things that Shane was particular about, so he was more than happy to let Shane see to them as he pleased. Plus, a happy Shane was usually an eager and needy Shane, and Ilya loved when Shane was eager and needy.
Ilya remained in the kitchen, his head in his hands. For some reason he found himself wondering if anyone had ever actually told Shane no. He definitely couldn't blame them, but damn.
Or, after a disagreement, Ilya Rozanov wonders if anyone has ever told Shane 'no'.

Summary
The house was silent, and he couldn’t see the glow of any lamps.
“Shane?” He called.
No reply.
Ilya checked his watch, 8:49. Huh. He knew Shane went to bed early but not that early. He toed off his shoes and placed his bag on the bench by the table before heading upstairs to the bedroom.
He opened the door, and sure enough, Shane’s sleeping form laid on the bed, curled up under the large duvet. Ilya smiled to himself before walking to the side of the bed. He crouched down and gently shook his sleeping boyfriend.
“Shane,” he said softly.
“Jesus Christ!” Shane huffed out, jolting awake.
Ilya pulled his hand back. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Shane rubbed his eyes as he tried to wake up fully. “Ilya?”
Or: Ilya decided to surprise Shane by coming to see him the night before he had planed to and finds out Shane is sick and didn't tell him
