His eyes narrowed as he studied the other man's profile, taking in the unfamiliar man he once called his sole comfort.
"Scara, have you ever been in love?" Childe shifted his weight and pushed himself upright, the grass rustling softly beneath him. Yet even as he moved, his gaze never left the thin crescent moon suspended in the night sky, its pale curve hanging delicately among the stars. The breeze stirred his hair, carrying with it the scent of wild grass and distant water, but he seemed oblivious to it all. His blue eyes reflected the moonlight as he stared into the distance, as if he were searching for an answer hidden somewhere beyond the horizon. His expression was uncharacteristically somber, the usual boisterous light in his eyes replaced by a heavy, contemplative stillness that felt foreign to the man Scaramouche thought he knew.

Scaramouche froze, a muscle twitching in his jaw. "Huh?" he managed, genuine confusion cutting through his anger.
"Tartaglia," she clarified, the name falling from her lips like a prophecy.
"Don't be ridiculous," he scoffed, forcing a harsh laugh that sounded hollow even to his own ears. He turned to stride past her, but the way she remained perfectly still, watching him with those unsettling eyes, made him hesitate. "Whatever delusions you're nursing, keep them to yourself."
In a blur of motion too swift for the human eye to track, Columbina was suddenly there, blocking his path. "It wasn't a question, tt was a statement." she murmured, a faint, ethereal smile playing across her lips. "The only question left is how you love him."

His voice carries the weight of centuries, desperate and uncharacteristically fractured. "The Tsaritsa has abandoned her love to her people, how could she possibly offer you the tenderness you deserve? How could she love you better than I do?"
"She can't," Childe answers immediately, the words clipped and hollow.
"Then why?" Zhongli presses, stepping into Childe's space, his eyes burning with a desperate intensity.

Summary
"Don't-" Childe tries to warn him, to beg for mercy before the climax claims him, but Zhongli presses down firmly. The sudden, blunt pressure sends Childe spiraling into white hot stars, his body convulsing as he comes with a strangled cry.
Zhongli grants him no respite, immediately resuming a punishing, relentless pace that forces the air from Childe's lungs. He presses his entire weight down, pinning the ginger man into the mattress as he pounds into him with devastating precision.
"Forgive me... I cannot control myself when you feel this exquisite," Zhongli moans against the shell of Childe's ear, his composure fracturing.

A pause stretched between them, heavy and suffocating. "You don't really like me, do you?" Childe asked.
"What gave it away?" Scaramouche sneered, finally turning. His eyes were venomous, sharp enough to draw blood.
Childe didn't flinch, instead he met that stare with something perceptive. "We're too similar, Scaramouche. If you can't manage to tolerate yourself, how could you ever possibly tolerate me?"
I loved you so much I forgot what hating myself felt like, Scaramouche thought, the confession burning like acid in his throat. But the words remained buried, locked behind a wall of pride as he narrowed his eyes, staring daggers at the man who saw too much.
A laugh tore from Scaramouche's throat a cruel, brittle sound that lacked any trace of mirth. "If you truly think you understand me, you're more arrogant than I ever imagined.""Then let me understand you," Childe countered. His voice dropped, losing its edge and softening into something intimate. He took another step forward, invading Scaramouche's space until the heat radiating from him challenged the mountain chill.

Zhongli found himself aching for a confrontation that would never come. He craved Childe's fury, the righteous anger, the venomous words, even the sting of a slap across his face.
To Zhongli, a slap wouldn't be an assault, it would be a hand cradling his cheek with too much force, a tangible connection that proved Childe was still there, still capable of feeling anything at all. He could endure the pain, he would welcome it, so long as the mark left behind bore the imprint of Childe's hand.
