Summary
If Owen hadn't been out chopping wood just beyond the birch clearing that first day so long ago, Louis would simply have made his way through to the outer edge of the forest as part of mapping out his territory. It wasn't the first time he'd done it, nor would it have been the last - he liked the chance to just be alone and take his time, with no expectations or watchful eyes. No rules would have been broken and Louis would still be the eager, obedient dragon, content and even happy that Oakhurst was so much kinder and less restrictive than any of his previous owners.
But Louis had met Owen that day and his whole life had changed.
A lonely slave with a dream of being enough, an ostracized lumberjack fighting to survive, and a scarred doctor hiding from his past. One chance meeting is all it takes to set off a chain reaction that will change three lives forever.
