“Following orders?” Yuichi asks, eyes narrowing. “Who ordered you to attack us?”
“Not you.” Chizu hisses, and then jerks her head at River. “Him.”
“Me?” River asks, ignoring Yuichi’s head snapping over with a worried look. “Why would anyone be after me?”
A low giggle curls between the tree-roots, making Yuichi whip around and their two would-be assailants tense with wide eyes.
But River? River can only freeze in horror.
“Oh, I’m sure you can think of a few rebitty-reasons for that my shining star.” A sugary voice purrs, sending chills down his spine.
River turns around slowly, his swords clenched tight in shaking fists, and he comes face to face with the twisted grin of Big Mama.
