Description:

After an incident lands an infant Hermione in Saint Mungo's Hospital, Snape makes the decision to adopt her. The series follows Snape and Hermione as she grows up and the events from the series unfolds. Snape attempts to overcome his past and traumas while raising Hermione, seeing danger in every corner. Which leads him to keep Hermione's birth parents a secret.

Amid nasty rumours of her origins and bullying Hermione longs to know who her mother is, but more pressing mysteries get in the way of her finding this out. She helps her best friends Harry Potter and Ron Weasley unravel mysteries each year while keeping the peace and on top of her studies. Hermione even starts a school paper with a colourful cast of characters, including the lovely Luna Lovegood.

Canon divergence increases as each book progresses.

Notes:

This was one long fic that's in the process of being converted into a series. Years 1,3 and 4 are in #1, summer after first year is Part 2, and Year 2 is Part 3.

This series is queer. Hermione's bi, Harry's bi, Luna's pan, there's original trans characters, Lupin's gay and Snape's both intersex and bi. Some of these characters find this out about themselves later in the series, some of them knew all along, but all are valid, even if very messed up in other ways. I am writing this from a cis-bi female perspective, so hopefully I capture my trans characters well.

I also explore a lot of mental health issues. Snape was an abused child and saw and did awful things in the service of Voldemort, leaving him with flashbacks and difficulty connecting with Hermione or making friends. Hermione deals with OCD and a hypercritical inner voice, often digging her nails into her hands for relief or to steal herself for an upcoming task.
