The eye creases slightly, squinting at him, staring deep past his brown eyes—he’d go so far to say they’re staring as deep to be directly gazing at his soul. That cool, pale hand clenches around his firm shoulder even harder, the sharp black nails digging into the invulnerable skin under his robes. “The children of humanity you swore to save… they are no more than ants to you now, aren’t they?”

Xie Lian inhales a sharp breath.
His pupils shake. His mouth opens, then closes, but nothing but a weak croak crawls out. “I…” His arms slowly raise, and the sleeves fall down around his arms. He looks at his shaky hands.
The muscles are firm. They show the toned hands of a person with extensive experience. Experience fighting… helping people… saving the world; it's something so far away now.
All these hands are good for now is murder.
