Summary
They don't know what evidence is truth. They don't know who to trust. They don't even know if they can trust each other.
But when Scully finds marks on her back similar to those of the victims in their case, she panics. Finding herself at Mulder's door in not much more than a bathrobe, she seeks reassurance from her new partner. In her vulnerability, he opens up to her in return, though the ground they walk on is still new and fragile.
This one-shot contains themes present in the original script that were later cut from the final episode, including a relationship that Scully is in. Although this relationship is mentioned, this fic centres Mulder and Scully, and explores this very charged scene between them a bit deeper, particularly from Scully's perspective.

Summary
Weeks have passed since she was assigned as Mulder's partner, since their first case—since she opened herself up to him in a moment of fear and he offered her his own vulnerability in return.
Now, they're back in Washington, and Scully is back to her routine, back to Ethan.
But Mulder hasn't left her thoughts since he charmed his way into them, and her imagination has been running wild. In one of the many fantasies that now plague her, Scully explores what that night in his motel room could have been, and comes to a few realisations regarding her reality along the way.

Please note: Don't let the relationship tag scare you! This fic is almost entirely a work of smut, and it focuses solely on MSR. There is no mentionable depiction of a relationship between Scully and her boyfriend aside from the acknowledgement of his inadequacies. She's just technically in a relationship, which was cut from the final episode, and I decided to play with it here, but it's MSR all the way! It’s also a bit of an extension of my previous one-shot. Enjoy!!!
