"Don't laugh! It's not funny! It's sacred!" Wade flailed his arms, his heart hammering against his ribs. "He died saving you! He was a hero!"
"He was a stubborn old bastard who would have thought it was hilarious if someone used his thigh bone to beat a guy to death," Laura said flatly, though the spark in her eyes was undeniably amused. She walked over to the disturbed earth, kicking aside a drift of snow to reveal a silvery bone half-buried in the dirt. "Come on. Help me pick up the pieces."
