“It’s easy.” He lifted her hand to clip a pulse oximeter to her index finger. “You lie still, and we’ll see how fast I can make your heart beat.” He ducked in closer, voice dropping low, his fingers flexing the slightest bit against her sternum. “Sounds fun, no?”
