Summary
The summer is finally over. You smile to yourself as you relax with Sun, snuggled up together in the collection of cushions and blankets that make up their bed. Summer is a very busy time in the Superstar Daycare, since a lot of working parents need to send their kids somewhere while they’re not in school. It also means large groups of kids in the main Plex too, with the stay at home parents needing to keep the kids entertained and not making messes for them to clean up. Even worse, bratty teenagers with nothing better to do keep breaking in at night, which means Moon has a lot more stress to deal with.
Any break-ins should be treated swiftly and seriously by the caretaker-cum-security bot, but he is also not allowed to harm or frighten any children within the Plex. So, Moon’s security protocols and caretaking protocols end up clashing, causing a command loop in his processor that takes up a lot of his energy. When this happens multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a night? Well…

He turns, leading you by the hand in the direction of the green tent. It's dark when you step inside, like it was last time, but within a few moments there is the faint glow of LED lights strung up around the walls. It’s cosy, filled with miscellaneous circus equipment for his shows and pieces of his costumes strewn about, but you notice a separator to a second room within the tent. He steps to the side, bowing with a flourish and pointing you towards the opening.When you pull back the curtain, it isn’t the large box of spicy snacks or collection of trinkets that catch your attention. Right in the middle of the room, on Harlequin’s bed, is…Harlequin. You freeze in place, glancing back at the monster behind you before looking back at the one in front of you.

Since you had been visiting the circus, you noticed that The Doctor was becoming increasingly obvious about his interest in studying you. It started with his tent, of course, his typical comments about your heart, your blood or other gore he would love to explore. He never did, lest he risk getting slaughtered himself by Pierrot. Then, after a while, he started mentioning an interest to study your physiological reaction to being around him and the other monsters. He mentioned a few times that where most people’s heart races around them due to the fear of the circus or the fear of the monsters particularly, whereas your heart beats differently, more erratically. You tried to brush it off, mentioning something about humans having varying biology and sometimes someone’s body works differently than the textbooks. It is based in truth, and seems to get him to drop it for now. Once you stop denying your feelings for the other monster’s, Doctor revisits the topic.“Would you like to assist me in a new series of experiments, sweetie?”

Now, Sun loves his Moon more than most anything else. More than arts and crafts, more than Fizzy Faz, even more than glitter glue! Right now though? Sun is very cross with him. His lunar love is getting on Sun’s very best nerve, and he isn’t sure how much longer he can stop himself from losing his patience.
