Julie laughs, clicking the suede box closed and sitting beside Didi before an accident happens, breaking the kiss. "That's a new one."
"Oh, you're still weird," Didi reaches for the box and reopens it, but her eyes are on Julie, "but you're perfect for me."
Another kiss, just as full and meaningful, and Julie can admit to herself that she is very, very happy. As sappy as it is, she could get lost in this moment.

Julie levels a look at her. She levels a look that makes Didi shake her head and bury her face in Julie's pillow. "Well, maybe—"
"No."
"Maybe they fucking suck."
"No , Julie," Didi looks up at her. "They can't. They're not allowed to. It's not fair."
"Why do you care?" Julie asks. Didi buries her face again and groans. Julie says curtly, "You tell me that people at your job suck all the time, why is this bothering you so much?"
"I want to preen, Julie. I want to feel special. Just once, I want these people to be thinking about me for longer than the five minutes it takes to get what they want from me."

No one at Pacific View congratulates Didi on her engagement, and when she gets crabby, Julie does her job.
