Terry loves this town and he loves everyone in it. He wasn't always that way though, he sort of had no one before, and he wasn't ever considering himself a candidate for marriage, Ares could have anyone else that was more appropriate around his age that the overachiever wanted.
Though when he and Ares finally start becoming a thing, more and more domestic bliss and husband - became real and less of a cruel joke in his mind. Parenthood was also never in his plans, sure he had 'looked after' Cecil and Martin, but parenthood? Being a father? This... was real.

He felt Martin flinch against his chest. “I didn’t want to worry you.” He wouldn’t look Ares in the eye, visibly fumbling over a thousand excuses in his mind. “It isn’t that bad, it’s just the rain that’s—”
The hand against his back fled and found its way home. Ares’s fingers weaved between Martin’s uninjured hand, sneaking under his gauntlet and stroking the back of his hand one, two, three times more. Then, his grip hardened.
