Bodypillow looks at Trapper and Locket, instantly knowing they’re soft, hesitant, weighed down by the comforts of Middle Ring. Out here, that won’t save them. Survival isn’t about luck—it’s about instinct, endurance, and knowing when to strike. If they want to make it, they’ll have to carve the weakness out of themselves, or they’ll die like everyone else.
ii.
Locket stumbles, breathless and aching, as Bodypillow pushes them past their limits. When the grueling training ends, exhaustion should consume them, but it doesn’t. Something unfinished claws at their mind, pulling them back to their old home. But what waits there isn’t closure—it’s something darker, something they were never meant to find.

Trapper grips Locket’s back as they fly, the remnants of Middle Ring slipping away. Below, the screeches grow louder, sharper. She tries to ignore them, but they burrow deeper, until she realizes: they weren’t just sounds. They were words. And they were meant for her.
