Day 9: Francis' ride north after he hears about Richard and Sybilla's ship foundering. He thinks back to the disaster that killed Richard Chancellor. CW for suspected close family deaths. Drowning and passenger ferry sinking (based on the ro-ro (roll on roll off) ferry disaster off Zeebrugge in 1987), with Francis’ traumatic memories surrounding Richard Chancellor’s death in an oil rig explosion (based on the 1988 Piper Alpha disaster). So fire, drowning, explosions, etc. Plus references to being drunk and vomiting, and Francis’ background suicidal inclinations. Because Checkmate is laugh-a-minute.Unfortunately there are a few details I didn't look up in RC when writing this, so consider is a draft.
