A/N: I really enjoy playing in this particular sandbox of time in the show, since it gave us that total “wow” factor of the look in Daniel’s eyes as he sees Betty without her braces for the first time and you can tell how much he is affected by her. I also LOVED the whole “It’s a Wonderful Life” scenario running at the same time, with the amazing “Dr. Frankl” as her (sort of) fairy godmother/Angel Clarence? I’m obviously zoning in on the fact that they just casually dropped the line from alt Daniel of how he and Betty had SLEPT together in this version of Betty’s life! Huh? Let’s make SOME kind of reference to that, shall we, writers? Throw us a bone, here!
ANYWAY, I am putting my own spin on this, setting it at Christmas time just because I love Christmas and wanted to set it with snow and mistletoe and all that fun stuff! Hope you enjoy!

A/N: Okay, yes, obviously, this is my tribute to the amazing Miss Diane Keaton. She was such a wonderful actress, a sweet and funny human, and she is someone that my daughter and I used to laugh at in everything she did, from Baby Boom to Father of the Bride to Because I Said So (I’ve already done a fic with that title-see how much I loved Diane?). I am not and never have been a fan of Jack Nicholson’s, however, (other than in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), so this wasn’t actually my favorite film of hers (except for Keanu!). But it is as all of Diane’s performances real and sweet and endearing, just like the lady herself! She will be missed!

A/N: This opening scene is my take on one that was cut from the series between Daniel and Bradford. I couldn’t believe how little they interacted in the show! What son has to schedule an appointment with his own father? Bradford was a terrible husband and father! No wonder Daniel was a sleazy womanizer to begin with! Thank God Claire had a good heart! But between her alcoholism, Bradford’s horrible treatment of his family, and Alex’s selfish nature, Daniel was by far the best of the bunch!
I felt sorry for him, especially in the first season, as he tried to keep his “head above water” amid the chaos in his family. He really nailed it in his apology to Betty, telling her that just because he was rich didn’t mean he didn’t have his own set of problems! It didn’t excuse his horrible treatment of her that first week or his cavalier attitude towards the women he slept with, but I can see how he used sleeping around as his drug of choice. Thank goodness he met Betty, and she loved him enough to expect more from him!
