Reeling from his most recent failure at Ravus Manor, Therion stumbles into Clearbrook hoping to scout out rumours and pockets. What he doesn't expect to find is a babbling apothecary built like a lumberjack, who's determined to follow him around Orsterra for a want of companionship. Indebted and as sentimental as ever, Therion reluctantly agrees, but with Darius' betrayal still looming over him like a dark shadow, he and Alfyn work on borrowed time to try and build a shaky friendship on unsteady foundations.

Primrose is thirteen when her father dies. As luck would have it, she's also thirteen when she runs into a pair of thieves and ends up in the same jail cell, completely by accident. But sometimes, life ends up giving you exactly what you need, even if you think it's just messing with you, and in Primrose's case, it's Therion and Darius.

His name is Alfyn Greengrass, and he is an apothecary. He's from Clearbrook, where he was born and raised. He's traveling to heal people all over the country. He's tall, strong (but not bulky), scruffy, and his grin reaches higher on one side of his mouth than the other. These are the first things that Primrose learns.
There will come a day when she grows to call Alfyn not only a friend, but family, which she herself expects least of all.
