Summary
There was one thing David understood- flowers. People, he didn't understand. He couldn't do feelings either, couldn't differentiate between friendship and love, infatuation and hate. And he couldn't figure out how to understand them. The people or the emotions.
But flowers, that's what he knew. He knew how to grow them, and knew what each of them meant. He knew that Amaryllis represented beauty- he grew some of those for the bouquet. The bouquet he grew for a boy. The snarky, asshole(ish) newsie who cheated at every game of cards he ever played.

July 20th, 1668
A heavy wooden thump sounded from behind him, then an uneven footstep. Again, the same sound persisted. Dave was sure that when he turned, he’d be greeted by the staggering figure of a ragged and battlescarred pirate, reeking of beer while swinging a cutlass and brandishing a peg leg as a reminder of past battles.
Instead, when he turned, he was greeted by a small and cheery looking cabin boy that smelled like ink and wax and not beer, with a crutch wedged under arm and not a peg leg in sight.

David is in high school as a Sophmore. Sadly, even though he thought high school would be an absolute dream, it felt slow to him, and he hated it. He had a few bullies on his tale throughout his career in school and was constantly seen as a coward by them. That was until he ended up becoming friends with the leader of a pack of newsboys.
Now stuff is changing for him, becoming a little better but the bullies became more persistent. He refuses to tell anyone.
Now, lets "Watch what happens".
