Summary
Like a web that catches all the bad and sick feelings of the world, the Fortress stands as the very real monster at the end of the Baron’s leash of control. It had a knack for twisting reality. Time within its walls became warped somehow, the very fabric of it bouncing around shapelessly like water. The days used to crawl by painfully slow, the hands on the clock stopping still with every spasm of pain and plea for mercy. It made it impossible to guess what was happening beyond its walls, the only logical answer coming up just short of there being an infinite void of nothingness. A bleak, dark abyss where the Fortress thrived as a facsimile of comfort, cooing to its imprisoned masses that it was always safer than being out there in the unknown. The more one begged for salvation within its walls, however, the more confined it would become.
