Harry Styles has never wondered what he would do if he was the only hope for the human race.
Usually he was too busy trying to answer the question of how he could stay invisible until high school graduation, despite everyone in town being terrified of his telekinesis. And mind reading. And sometimes yellow eyes.
That is, until the new students move in, the charming Louis Tomlinson and his equally charming family who drop in on Holmes Chapel like a tsunami. Diana would have sworn her heart stopped beating for a while.
It was her.
A few steps away from her. Steps that she promptly walked before freezing right beside Olivia.
She was taller than what Diana had pictured. And way more beautiful than what Skype and silly selfies shared through snapchat could portray. Her caramel skin was shining under the moonlight and her eyes… God, her eyes. Brown and beautiful, big and shiny and so very very Olivia. And they were looking right back at her.
(Or, the one where they are internet friends (or maybe more) and Olivia flies to the States to meet Diana)

“Why do you cut the roses, mommy? They’re so pretty, why do you cut them?” Olivia asked
“Because we don’t want them to grow too much, they’d be all over the place, and they wouldn’t be so pretty then, now would they?” Her mother answered.
“Oh.” Olivia didn’t understand why wild and unruly and free flowers wouldn’t be pretty, but she didn’t say anything.
Olivia was twelve when her mom told her “You're as pretty as a flower.”, she was thirteen when she realised that the world was cutting her too, killing little bits of her until she fit into who she was supposed to be. Not wild or unruly. Definitely not free.

Fear lodged into the crevices of her heart and seeped into her system, her body left a trembling mess. Diana could do nothing but let the scalding tears slide down her warm cheeks as she cried earnestly, all too contrasting to the constant coldness she felt surrounded her.
