Korzenie nadchodzących wydarzeń sięgają odległej przeszłości. Zapomnianej, rozproszonej, zbyt niejasnej by ją z nimi połączyć. Przed gliniarzami z czterdziestego pierwszego stają nowe wyzwania, których ci, zajęci zamieszkami na ulicach i obywatelami coraz częściej wspominającymi o nadchodzącym Le Retour, bynajmniej nie oczekiwali. Te szczególnie uderzają w osłabiony Oddział ds Poważnych Przestępstw, który nieoczekiwanie wspiera nowa sierżant.
Revachol od dawna drży o swe istnienie, a sytuacja sprawia, że dołącza do niego całe Elysjum.. oraz szarota, która ujawnia rąbek swej prawdziwej natury. Wszystko zaś przez dwoje szaleńców, z których każdy ma własne plany, co do Rzeczywistości.
Schorowany, cierpiący świat ewoluuje. Pojawiają się pierwsze przeciwciała. -

PROBLEM: You’re picking back up the pieces of this thing you call a life, and that’s great. But this whole *pale* situation is really throwing you. Few people have anything useful to tell you-- even less are actually willing to talk about it. But there are people out there who revere the pale, who welcome its coming like a new Innocence. Why? What is it about the pale that draws some people in, but terrifies others? And why do you even care? You’re a detective-- figure it out. It might be important.
Some thoughts about the pale, based in chaos theory and molecular kinetics, because I am a biochemist at heart :)
