The truth of the matter is that she had full intentions of finding Kingo just long enough to leave some obnoxious trinkets she had found in his home, but something told her to see Sersi.
Whatever led Makkari there, she'd later tell Druig, must've been a version of a Guardian Angel for Sersi.
