The hotel is long forgotten, As the player is trapped in Door 100, the entities are now only existing in his subconscious. They assisted the player to "beat the game" in reverse. As the player reaches the reception room, he bids farewell to the beloved hotel.

Seeing some other guests here and there, the friends decide to join in on an activity hosted by the employees of the hotel. None of them knew, however, the true intentions of the workers there, nor the destination of the single elevator they stood in...

How could this have happened?
First, your car quits working on you during the worst rainstorm of your life while going home from a long trip. Then, you go into a hotel to find some shelter or help, only to discover that you have just entered the domain of something truly wicked and not of the world you once knew.
You just wanted a place to wait out the torrential downpour, and use a phone to contact a mechanic so they could help get your car up and running again.
Now you're lost in a seemingly endless hotel filled with bloodthirsty monsters that want nothing more than to eat you or kill you.You can only hold your raincoat as close to your body as possible while you dredge through these dangerous halls. Hoping to make it back to the outside world once again.

Halt, one of the entities, finds out from Guiding Light that this 'human' isn't normal, and that the human is in need to find someone who can help them control a power that they recently achieved.

Spencer Seeker was never really a well-known guy. All that he had in life was himself and his group of childhood friends who wrote horror stories together under the name “Entities of the Doors” with code names for each person. Every day was the same for him. Wake up, go to school, meet at one of his friend’s houses, write something, then go home.
Well, that was until his friend Harlon found an abandoned hotel.
Next thing he knew, Spencer was helping tidy up this hotel with his friends, and what would oneself do with a vintage hotel like this?
Turn it into a haunted one.
One with many, many mechanisms that bring out the life in the “Entities of the Doors” stories.
