They finally did it. They took down the Neverseen. So now everything should be okay, right? Except the Council hasn't changed anything and no one is pointing out how wrong it is years later. Except two incredibly tense exes, an awkward couple who doesn't know how to be a couple, a social and political pariah, her emotional support shade and a pyrokinetic whose completely in love with her best friend. That makes for complete chaos, especially when no one is getting along and the tension is beyond palpable.
No one has talked to Keefe for ages except or Rayni and Tam who are the only ones who wanted to give him a second chance after everything with Alvar so imagine their surprise when Sophie, Dex, Biana and Marella reach out because no one is pointing out how not okay everything is.
Meanwhile: Fitz, Linh, Stina, Maruca and Wylie can't figure out why they're not happy. They've been given a pass. They've been given peace. And after all the fighting, isn't that what they wanted? Why wouldn't they take the opportunity to finally be normal?
But they can't be normal. None of them can no matter how hard they try and sometimes empires must fall.
