This flower strove endlessly for perfection. Six petals, seven souls. Again, one petal shy of perfection. The flower lay, wilted in the ray of light, barely shining into the underground. He needed the light, else he would surely die.
Frisk visits Flowey in the underground and takes him up to see the surface much to Flowey's dismay.
So much has changed on the surface in one year, monsters are a normal part of society now.

After the everything that was erased got reset some things should have been forgotten.
But those with DETERMINATION remember dying, even after the timeline was ERASED.Flowey remembers and just goes along with everything since he knows that Chara was unstoppable. He was bored, but more than that, he was scared. But a Flower can't do much.
Undyne shouldn't remember either. Call it a glitch, or call it heroism but the DETERMINATION she naturally had and used for the first time never fully went away even as she melted. She can now remember resets from now on.
And Undyne isn't going to let some time controlling brat have control.

Frisk falls into the underground and they have no idea what they're supposed to do. They only see one possibility and that's to go forward (they definitely don't try looking for other options instead, totally). Chara is there for some reason and is questionably a "reliable mentor" despite having a plan that is definitely not based on any plan from the past. Frisk is very trusting and Chara has secretive priorities. Chara will definitely look out for Frisk's wellbeing as they try to make friends with every monster with blissful ignorant peace and Chara will definitely not be on the edge of having a mental breakdown at every step in the story. With their combined unstable dynamic they will PROBABLY outmatch the underground and potentially drive various monsters beyond the realm of logical sense, but that's just a theory.
