Summary
"Aether knew they were held to different standards than other ghouls in the abbey, let alone ghouls as a whole. Still, it didn’t hurt any less when the clergy was replacing half of the people they had let into their pack years prior. It still hurt when they met their new handler, when Copia introduced himself with a shy but real smile and an outstretched hand, seeing them as equals more than subordinates. It was a stark contrast to how he had met Terzo, but then again he had been summoned by the man. Terzo was… he was a good handler, Aether had been topside before being summoned by the clergy, he knew handlers could be cruel to ghouls, seeing them as possessions rather than beings who had free will. Terzo understood that, he understood their needs and wants but also made sure they understood who summoned them, who was in charge and who could send them back. While Terzo had left little to no doubt about that, but now there was no doubt.
Ifrit had been banished, Zephyr was dead, and Terzo… well he was dead too."

Or follow the Ghouls as they navigate the Clergy, new roles and their pasts they'd rather forget and a future they may not want. -

Summary
“You destroyed your rose immediately?” Aether slipped in between the other ghouls to stand next to Dew, shaking his head. “This is why we can’t have nice things,” he teased.
“It’s not a big deal,” Dew muttered, somehow feeling like he was disappointing Aether.
“Well, you need to have one,” Aether said as if it was obvious. He handed his own rose to Dew, and then quickly walked off before he could protest.
Dew brought the flower up to his face and sniffed it cautiously. He didn’t really know what to expect, since no one had ever given him one before. It smelled…nice. Tilting his head, he tucked the interaction with Aether in the back of his mind, so that he could revisit it later. For no particular reason.

Summary
“Rage hits this ghoul like a bat out of hell every once in a while, and he doesn’t know why but nothing can solve it. Dewdrop wasn’t one for talking about or expressing his feelings, so instead he’d just go into a completely feral state of anger and refuse to talk or listen to any advice. Nobody could ever get through to him, basically every ghoul has tried but failed.”
(The title is from the song ‘Apocalypse’ by Cigarettes After Sex.)

Summary
“The light of the candles in the room reflected off his shiny mask, making him look oddly angelic, though you were aware of the irony of that. His blue eyes gazed into your soul, as if he knew your deepest secrets and the way to your heart.“
